In 2017, I was diagnosed with stage one ovarian cancer solely because I persisted with my healthcare provider. I underwent surgery and chemotherapy. My DNA was checked, revealing that I had Lynch Syndrome.
Six and a half years later, I became quite weak and required a wheelchair. I went to the ER, where they diagnosed me with a rare kidney tumor in my left kidney. I was referred to UT Southwestern, where they removed the kidney. I am now cancer-free, at least for now.
It’s not a matter of if, but when. After the kidney cancer, I’m not sure if I have the strength to go through this again, but I will see.
