Karen’s Story (Breast Cancer)

Karen's Breast Cancer StoryI was 42 years old when I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer.  Cancer has never run in my family.

I had chemo for five months then a double mastectomy and 39 rounds of radiation during 2012. I had reconstruction surgery with a horrible outcome. I had several surgeries in a very short period with my body being septic.

I am very lucky to be a cancer survivor! Had I been properly diagnosed when I first felt my tumor, I would have only been a Stage 1 patient.

I want people to be aware that if you feel something is not right please get answers and just don’t walk away.

Thank you for encouraging others to not look the other way when they are scared. Knowing your own body and warning signs is so important.
