I found the lump in my breast during a self-exam in the shower. I had already had my annual mammogram scheduled 3 weeks out, so I just kept the appointment.
I don’t think I was surprised by the diagnosis (Hormone receptor-negative breast cancer) .
I was a widow with 2 daughters (one in high school). So, I put one foot in front of the other, and luckily with chemo and surgery I am almost 13 years cancer free. I have lost too many friends to cancer and feel very lucky to be here to talk about my experience.
