Brenda’s Story (Hashimoto’s Disease)

Light Blue RibbonAfter years of many medical issues, I was finally diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease. I had gained nearly 100 pounds, and had multiple other issues to go along with it. I was miserable and contemplated ending it all many times.

I finally decided to take my life back. I began to work hard towards losing weight, asking the doctor questions and researching my conditions. I stopped feeling sorry and began to fight back.

I began to see results slowly and began to feel better. Those feelings motivated me to keep going. After a little over a year, I am down nearly 70 pounds; many of my other medical issues are resolving, and I have a better feeling of self worth.

This weekend was a big milestone in taking my life back. I swam and floated in the creek, rode 4 wheelers and am attending a Major League Baseball game tomorrow. One year ago, I wasn’t able to do any of these things and wouldn’t have even attempted them. I am so thankful that I didn’t give up and am looking forward to more adventures.
