Patrice’s Fight Like a Girl Story (GIST)

Patrice's Story GISTI was recently diagnosed with gastrointestinal sarcoma tumor, aka GIST. Everything has an acronym nowadays!

The original plan was to start me on a high dosage of Gleevac to shrink the tumor, which is in the small intestine area and is currently 7 cm. I had some problems with the dosage of Gleevac, and now I’m on half dosage with hopefully fewer side effects. Now the plan is to possibly remove it and still treat with Gleevac. Personally, I want the sucker removed ASAP, so I can move on with my life. A friend of mine had breast cancer, and she said, “Cancer is a nuisance in your life. It f***s up everything.” So true.

I feel very confident with my oncologist, gastrologist and surgeon. I just want to know that my life can move forward. There are too many things that I have left to do, and this is just messing up my plans.

I told my brother that I am too much of a bitch to let this get me down, and he agreed too quickly. Yes, I can be a bitch, but this GIST picked the wrong bitch to f**k with!! I intend to fight like a girl and kick me some GIST ASS and not give up!
