I want the world to know that MEN get these diseases too. I first notice I wasn’t well in June 2012, then I was diagnosed on December 22, 2012 with an autoimmune disorder, and was finally told I had MCTD in July of 2013 at the age of 23.
It took the doctors over a year to figure out what was wrong with me. I finally made the change and decided to go to Stanford Medical we’re I finally got the answers that I wanted (in a sense). The first year was really rough not getting answers. This disease has been really humbling because I can’t do the things I am used to doing. Here I was supposed to go off to another college on a football scholarship but now I am too weak to do anything.
I am a father and a husband and I worry about leaving them, or being to weak to do activities with my daughter. But I want you to know that I fight everyday to stay strong to not let anyone know I suffer so that we can try to live a normal life, or close to it.
