I have suffered from acid reflux for many years. The doctor treated it with ‘Prevacid,’ ‘Nexium,’ etc. Last October I went to my gastroenterologist for a routine visit. He scheduled an EGD. I was told the next day that I had esophageal cancer. I was sent immediately to UAB at Birmingham, AL to a surgical oncologist.
My cancer was found to be stage 1. They removed most of my esophagus and stomach. I was in the hospital for 40 days. I was sent home with a feeding tube and a home health care nurse. This is the biggest battle I have ever fought. There were times when I wasn’t sure I could do it. I am a faithful girl, and even more so now. During the first attempt at my surgery, I passed away on the table, and went straight to heaven.
Long story short, I am 52 years old, and had no symptoms except for heartburn. If you suffer from this, please ask your doctor to perform an EGD. It’s done as an outpatient procedure and takes about 15 minutes. It could save your life…it saved mine. Oh, and be kind to others, because heaven is such a beautiful place. I FOUGHT LIKE A GIRL !!!!
