Cheri’s Story (Breast Cancer)

Cheri's Story (Breast Cancer)My name is Cheri, and I am 38 yrs old. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July of 2012.

My amazing family donated blood to UBC approximately 16 years ago to conduct research which led to the discovery of the BRCA 1 and 2 gene. I was notified that I carried both genes at that time.

I waited on preventative surgery because I was so young. I waited too long.

I created my “Choose Hope, Not Fear” blog so my friends and family could follow me on my journey through my battle with breast cancer. Little did I know that this blog would reach so many people, and inspire other warriors in their fight.

It’s amazing how such a scary, life changing experience can result in so much good.
