I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 31, with no family history on 12-12-12! Within two weeks, I was meeting with Oncologist and Surgeons. I had a bilateral mastectomy on 12-28-12. Then, I started aggressive chemotherapy after a port placement from February to May. Additional treatment included Herceptin for a year because of being HER2-positive.
I started breast reconstruction in August 2013, exchanging the expanders for breast implants in February 2014. I was put on an oral hormone blocker Tamoxifen and told I would be on it for 10 years! In March 2015, I had a total hysterectomy due to pain and discomfort from cysts and side effects of being on Tamoxifen.
