I was diagnosed with breast cancer on January 2, 2014. I had a bilateral mastectomy on January 20th with the start of reconstruction. My reconstruction failed four times. I started chemo in March; I had my last treatment yesterday.
I’m ready to get on to the next part of my journey. I will have my next reconstruction surgery on September 9th. I have a great support system of friends and family, but most of all my mom, whom I feel I should be taking care of at this stage of the game – but the roles have been reversed. I feel strong and I’m ready to keep fighting to get to the end of this and just get back to being me.
