In 2015, a lump became a lesion. Scans showed breast cancer in both breasts. I had 4 surgeries and a bilateral mastectomy; no reconstruction. It was followed by 3 rounds of Taxotere chemotherapy and 55 radiation treatments. Sonny, my dog, and I rescued each other to help me through chemotherapy. He was a motivator to get well or take naps with.
Skip ahead to 2019, a lump was found around my underarm in the lymph node. Recurrence or metastasized? Scans showed aggressive lumps in several nodes. I had a lymph dissection where left side nodes were removed. AC and Taxol chemotherapy was brutal. It wasn’t any easier the second time around. My husband was my caretaker and was completely supportive and loving through this second ordeal.
I love being a “flattie”. I do worry where it’ll turn up next.
