Sabrina’s Story (Heart Disease)

Sabrina's Story (Heart Disease)I was 30 years old when I first found out I was sick. I am a single mom of a beautiful nine year old daughter. I started sleeping a lot and kept blacking out. I went to the emergency room one night because of chest pains, blacking out, headache, nausea, and shortness of breath. I was told I had a hole in my heart and they would attempt to repair it. If not repaired I would not continue living. I had my first open heart surgery on March 14, however something went wrong and I began bleeding out. I required 37 units of blood in a matter of hours and had my second open heart surgery 22 hours after the first one. I was on the ventilator for two weeks. I developed pneumonia and ARDS. I lived through it. I’m now 33 and suffer from sinus tachycardia, CHF, AFIB, and regurgitation of my valves. I have a few other health issues as well but I refuse to give up. I continue to fight and battle. Sabrina Mississippi Submitted 05/09/2014
