Melinda’s Story (Breast Cancer)

Melinda's Story (Breast Cancer)Within one hour of finding out that I had breast cancer a well-meaning advocate slid a bag with a pretty pink ribbon on it across a desk to me to put all the papers in it that she had given me.

It was at that moment that I took my power back from cancer. I slid the bag back across the desk and said, “No thank you, I’m not into breast cancer pink.” It was as they say, “On.” That was in March of 2013.

In April the oncologist insisted I do six months of chemotherapy; we actually had a verbal altercation over it. I got a second opinion. That doctor ordered the ONCO DX test and it showed I had less than an 8% chance of recurrence and would not benefit from chemotherapy. The picture is from August 2013 of my new boobs. 🙂

Be your own advocate. Fight Like Girl.
