27 years ago I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I never knew how much the thyroid gland could control your whole being. Besides the sudden weight gain, the dry skin, the hair loss, being tired with no energy, it can cause other medical conditions. I went into early menopause, suffer from migraine headaches, and last year I was diagnosed with osteoporosis due to prolonged use of thyroid medication.
Ten years ago my thyroid levels dropped drastically, my doctor changed the Synthroid dose to match my blood counts. It was such a shock to my system that I had a mild heart attack. Thankfully there was no permanent damage.
