4-1/2 years ago, I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer stage 1. All the doctors thought, no problem. Had a radical hysterectomy and 5 rounds of internal radiation.
This July, I went in for my check up, only 4 months until my 5 years clear. I was very excited! Then the hammer came down. It was back. My original surgeon and radiation doctors thought we could go in and do another surgery and additional radiation and that would be that.
Did all the testing which we all know is a pain, had the surgery 10 days ago, and the results were not good. They could not clear all of the tumor. So, this Wednesday, I begin 5 weeks of chemo with 6 weeks of radiation 5 days a week.
Having never done chemo, it makes me very nervous, but between my beautiful 20-year-old daughter, my wonderful husband and friends, I feel safe. Also, all the stories of these incredible women on this website inspire me to Fight Like a Girl!
