Diane Greco’s Story (Chronic Pancreatitis)

Hello,  my name is Diane Greco. I am the mother of four young adults, a nurse and a military Mom.

I was raised Catholic near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Since I was a child,  I’ve had several issues that were diagnosed and associated with nausea, stomach pain and fainting spells. After four c- sections in 5 years in my late 20’s, the complications continued.

I had significant health issues involving stomach pain, irritable bowel syndrome, migraines, chronic pain, fatigue, and was extremely worked up with no diagnosis.

As a nurse, I was a family caregiver for two parents with cancer for 18 years.

I was experiencing many health issues with chronic stomach pain. I researched for many years to find that my symptoms were consistent with chronic pancreatitis and parathyroid disease.

During the years my children were graduating from college, I had two acute episodes of acute pancreatitis that were not consistent with the clinical presentation and elevation of labs. I lost 35 pounds the 1st time regaining it back and more than 60 pounds the second time, leaving me really sick and down to a weight that was unsafe.

I was also thought to be passing biliary or pancreatic stones even after I had my gallbladder removed. I was on several drugs at that time, experiencing severe depression and anxiety. I have since  weaned off the medications and have learned how to manage and maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle.

I am a life learner and advocate for Chronic Pancreatitis , Mental Health, and Holistic Health and Wellness !
