Brandy’s Story (Ovarian Cancer)

Brandy's Story (Ovarian Cancer)I have been a survivor of nearly four years. This early spring of 2013 I began feeling bloated. I felt a slight just barely pinch in my lower abdomen while I was coming out of the pool. I thought I had a so called “yeast infection.” My girlfriends all had them when we was younger.

At the age of 56 it was not a yeast infection, I had stage IV ovarian cancer. My CA-125 blood test revealed a low 45, but 45 was out of the norm of zero to 35!

Debulking took over 10 hours. I then had two five month rounds of chemo along with a colostomy that was reversed, as well as an ileostomy (upper intestine) which was also reversed.

I finished round two of chemo in April of 2013. Yes, my hair is very short and sassy.

My journey began in early Spring of 2008. Here it is almost 2014!
