Laura’s Story (Cervical cancer)

Laura's Cervical Cancer StoryI was diagnosed with cervical cancer at age 29.

I was only a couple of months late, my first smear had been clear and I had no symptoms, yet there I was, in an office at the hospital while the consultant told me how sorry he was that this silent killer had  just changed my life forever.

With two children at home, I sobbed as the possibility of not seeing them grow up crept into my mind. Fighting cancer is hard but the mental side is harder.

I had to have a total hysterectomy but thanks to my smear I will watch my children grow and be there to encourage my daughter to attend her smear test.
