Rose’s Story (Breast Cancer)

Rose's Story (Breast Cancer)I’m an eight year survivor of right breast cancer. I was only in my late 30’s at the time. My mom started having cysts & tumors in her breast(s) in her late 20’s early 30’s. Therefore, I wanted to start getting mammograms every two years in my 30’s.

I literally had to “fight” the primary doctor to let me have a mammogram in 2005, because no one in my family had ever had breast cancer, and I didn’t see or feel anything. She FINALLY ordered the mammogram which showed the “earliest” stages of carcinoma in my right breast. As a result of them catching it in the earliest stages, I only had to have surgery and then radiation. THANKFULLY no chemo! I was also placed on Tamoxifen (what I call the post cancer drug) for five years! Now I have a mammogram every year! I’m the one on the right in the photo!
