Angie’s Story (Breast Cancer, Thyroid Cancer, Colon Cancer)

Angie's Story Breast CancerI have been fighting like a girl for 11 years with no plans to ever give up! In 2004, on my 40th birthday, I was diagnosed with colon cancer. I followed up with surgery and 16 weeks of chemo. In 2014, on my 50th birthday, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. I followed up with surgery again.

Then in October of 2014, during my annual mammogram, I was diagnosed with stage 2A invasive ductal breast cancer with 3/16 lymph nodes affected. I followed up with a mastectomy and 6 weeks of radiation. Genetic testing was inconclusive, so my husband said to my doctor, “My wife is just the unluckiest person” to have cancer 3 times. He doesn’t believe the occurrences are not related. I have no family history, so I choose to believe I was chosen because I am the strongest. I’m living life to the fullest, and most people don’t even realize I am fighting like a girl every day for the rest of my life!
