Pat’s Story (Breast Cancer)

Pat's Story Breast CancerI found a small lump, 7 weeks after a “normal” mammo. I had a biopsy 4 days before Christmas, and 2 days after Christmas, I was told I had breast cancer. I was 60 years old, and my world stopped. To me, I’d received a death sentence, and I even mentally started thinking about who to give my belongings to.

I had a lumpectomy in January and was told my cancer was aggressive, estrogen negative, and HER2 positive. I still made arrangements for radiation and chemo, and started doing lots of online research. I decided, by heaven, I was going to fight and beat this. I had MammoSite radiation, and then 6 rounds of chemo.

And so far, I’ve won! I have been cancer free since 2006!
