Hi, I’m Mindi. I’m not sure where to start or end this story about the journey that I’ve been going through. So I’ll start from the beginning.
On April 6th 2014, I was diagnosed with stage 4b metastatic cervical cancer. All I could do was cry. I just knew I was gonna die! I had never of heard anybody surviving this stage before, so I automatically assumed the worst and immediately started making funeral arrangements, calling family members, etc. I had absolutely no faith whatsoever! So from the moment I realized that I was going to die, I started going to church with my sister. The very first day, I accepted Christ as my savior! Well, I believe the following week after I went to church, I started 6 weeks of chemotherapy, 1 every week and radiation Monday through Friday. Well, going through treatment for me wasn’t easy at all. As a matter of fact, I wanted to give up so many times, and every night before I would go to sleep, I would always say, I’m not going back. I quit! Why? The side affects from both radiation and chemo made me terribly sick, and I was bedridden for 3 months! I didn’t care about dying anymore, all I cared about was being better! And I kept trying to look at my situation like I had the worst case ever in the history of cervical cancer and all the side affects that came along with it!
Well, I started praying because I knew it was the only way to heaven, so I just had to get right with God first and I had to make this quick because if I quit treatment, then I know I’ll probably die sooner than with the treatment. Well, God had something up his sleeve because I never quit treatment, and today I want to live! Well, I’m on a 3 month break right now, and I’m waiting for Dec. 15th to come around to go get another PET scan to find out how well I took to the treatment. I really feel in my heart that just because I have never heard of anyone surviving this stage before, I’ll be the first! God has something in store for me, and now that I gave him control over this cancer, I know he’s gonna kick it right in the butt! Thanks for allowing me to share my story!
