I had graduated from nursing school one and a half years before my diagnosis. I was a single parent to a set of twins and only 24 years old. My physician that I had previously seen said that the lump I found was due to caffeine usage. A year had past and then I started feeling pain that I couldn’t bear anymore. I went in and got the whole nine yards. In a couple of days I was getting a right breast mastectomy. It turns out that the cancer had spread to all of my lymph nodes and to the lobes of my lungs.
It was metastatic but currently I am in remission. I’m still going through my treatments and I’ve been doing that for almost four years every week. The doctor says I have to do this so that the cancer will not come back. I’m fine with that. I thank God that I’m here to encourage those who think that cancer is a life sentence. I thank God for my mama whose been there for every chemo day. I’m living amongst the living. That is a blessing in itself. 🙂
