Linda’s Story (Breast Cancer)

My husband has lymphoma and I decided I needed to get my mammogram because it had been a few years and figured it needed to be done. A routine mammogram….no big deal! I got a call after the first mammogram that they needed to do a second mammogram. Okay, I thought…I had a cyst removed in 2012. Still, no big deal. They are seeing a scar from the surgery. It’s all going to be fine.

I then got another call saying we need to do an ultra sound and a needle biopsy for what we are seeing. What? This was supposed to be a routine mammogram. The needle biopsy came back with the results stating the diagnosis of breast cancer. Wait…. What? This was supposed to be a routine mammogram! I am going to the surgeon next week because my routine mammogram was not routine. Cancer picked the wrong girl! I am going to be a survivor!
