Christal’s Story (Breast Cancer)

Christal's Story (Breast Cancer)On March 14, I had got the phone call telling me that my biopsy came back cancer. I was devastated. I had breast cancer. I was scared out of my mind. All I could do was think of what was going to happen to me and my little man. I had a total mastectomy in May and started my chemo in June.

I shaved my head in July, and my baby said, “cool hair mommy.” After 16 chemo treatments, the last one on November 13, 2012, I was told by my doctor that I am a survivor and cancer free. I hung in there for my son. He was my power, my strength, and my courage to get through it.

I start my radiation December 10, 2012, and I go back to work Monday, the 3rd of December. I have my second surgery in June or July. My son knows mommy has “ouches” and he takes his finger, kisses it, then puts it on my cut’s, and says  “better mommy.”  I believe we all can fight like a girl! There in no option of losing.

I find all these stories extremely helpful to me. I had breast cancer in January 2012, had 6 chemo treatments, mastectomy in august and 6 weeks of radiation treatments. I know what these women are going through and I pray for all of them, especially the women who have small children. it’s such an horrific and scary disease, but we can all beat it if we stay positive and pray every day to get our health back. may god bless all of us in this journey.
