Nancy’s Story (RSD)

Hi, My name is Nancy, and I live with–I don’t say suffer–RSD. I had bilateral carpal tunnel surgery, which triggered RSD, back in 2001. The one thing never mentioned to me. I found out real quick just what RSD was. It’s a terrible, life-changing disease. I’ve had nerve blocks through my throat, which didn’t work. I had a dorsal stimulator implanted to no avail.

I then started researching THE BEST health care provider in this field. I found Dr. Hendler and the Mensena Clinic in Maryland, associated with John Hopkins Hospital. I felt confident that I’d found help. This man dedicated his life to helping people find a cure. I went out to this beautiful clinic for 3 weeks to see if I was a candidate. I was, and I was to come back out for treatment for 6 weeks. I was excited and came home to get everything in order. Then when I started calling the clinic to make plans to come back out–no answer. I soon found out why: Dr. Hendler took it upon himself to use his knowledge in bad ways. He had been arrested for withholding pain meds for sexual favors. I was appalled. Do now I live with all the symptoms throughout my body? The constant pain, burning, depression, panic attacks, weakness, and falling, being unable to eat or fight off sickness. Where do you go when you lose trust in doctors? Fight like a girl against RSD.
