Karen’s Story (Lyme Disease)

Karen's Story Lyme DiseaseThose living with chronic Lyme Disease know the daily struggle to just make it through each day. Just a few symptoms include chronic pain, chronic fatigue, mental health disorders, arthritis, hypothyroidism, neurological and skeletal issues, and stealth viruses. A person with Lyme has a lowered immune system, which allows viruses, old and new, to be chronic and never ending. There is no cure for this widespread and growing disease. All of us who suffer generally look fine on the outside. If people only knew.

I want to raise awareness for Lyme. It’s actually an epidemic, according to some sources, and diagnoses continue to grow. The worst part: it’s very difficult to get good health care, as there are few Lyme-literate doctors, and much of the medical community still thinks it doesn’t exist. Plus, getting an accurate diagnosis is difficult. Many subscribe to use of a Western Blot, which is known to be flawed with respect to chronic Lyme. Each day requires putting on your combat boots and facing whatever life brings your way. God Bless all sufferers!

I was diagnosed in 2015. Although I can’t say that I like it I am coping. I am always tired. I am glad that I am not alone.
